Introducing Hi-Cross
This hybridisation of Napier Grass (African Elephant Grass) and American Pearl Millet has produced a much more palatable livestock feed due to its very sparse to non-existent hair - which makes it very desirable for cows.
The Hi-Cross is a very good source of protein. According to the University of Sultan Zainal Abidin, the hybrid grass contains up to 18% – 20% of protein, more than the standard Napier Grass and other livestock feed sources like maize, Mombasa grass, and Alfalfa.
The greatest feature of the Hi-Cross is it's yield. According to the Department of Veterinary Services of Malaysia, if managed properly in a tropical climate it can grow up to 7 feet tall yielding 26 tons per acre per harvest every 45 days. This allows us to produce large quantities of feed at more affordable rates compared to other sources.
Sunrise Feed is currently undergoing extensive research and development of the Hi-Cross Grass on our 550-acre land in Negeri Sembilan, Malaysia. Early studies have shown promising results. Our objective is to expand the development of Hi-Cross and commercialize the product across the globe.
